How do paddle shifters work on an automatic car?the ones on the steering wheel. what do u need it for if its automatic. can u switch to manual? how do u operate them? is there a clutch? i'm really confused why this is an option on an automatic car. the car i'm talking about is the 2008 infiniti G37 journey with sport package. thanks

It should be the same, the only difference is instead of taking your foot of the brake and applying pressure on the gas pedal to move in an automatic you would depress the clutch pedal with your left foot while your right foot is on the brake and then put into gear. Take your foot of the brake to apply pressure to the gas pedal simutanously while backing off the clutch pedal to start driving.

Can be less exciting to drive on certain types of road. Like nice canyon roads with lots of twists and turns at multiple angles a proper manual can be a lot of fun (if you know how to use it correctly.lol)
You don't have as much control on the overall powerband (though you can manually shift gears with an auto when going up or down a steep road if necessary, it's not the same). That's why you typically get better acceleration in muscle cars with a manual vs a muscle car with an automatic, with a manual you can get the revs up higher easier to get full power output, on an automatic, it will usually shift before you hit peak power.
However, there are instances of cars with automatics that actually do better. For instance the new Cadillac CTS-V has been known to be quicker in automatic than manual configurations due to the driver error factor, the transmission in the CTS-V is really good at holding the power. In fact the CTS-V at least until just recently held the record for fastest lap time around the Nurburgring in Germany, and from what I understand that was done on a CTS-V with an automatic transmission, not a manual.
Fuel economy, manual transmissions still tend to get a little better fuel economy than automatic transmissions, however, this gap has become smaller in recent years.
Other than that, I can't really think of any disadvantages of automatic.
i would not recommend switiching from an auto to a manual. it is much easier to go the other way around. there is no way to calculate the cost of a tranny swap without knowing what tranny/car you looking at

Providing you are not travelling too fast downhill you can use an automatic just like a manual.

Lol, for about a year ago i was making a front flip on my parents bed and landed on the floor, and i thougt it felt a little bit weird when i landed on my bum.. so, I accidently landed on a cute, red kinda big box, and since it was my B-day a few days later i thaught that it might have been a birthdaypresent from my parents. So i told my sister about it and she laughed.. On my birthday, i got that package from my sister… it was all broken.. but still, it’s the inside that counts.. Lol
It would be a couple of grand and likely not worth it. You wouldn't gain too much in performance & I think the auto in the Prelude actually gets better gas mileage.
Yes turbos on auto can be very effective. I own 2 cars, 1 Audi A4 1.8T (auto) and Civic 1.6 (manual). The civic has lots of power, but that's also because it is much lighter.
Consider that my Audi engine is only 0.2 liter bigger – but the car (Audi) is much heavier. But because of the turbo, the car pulls easily like a v6 (even with a automatic).
